Came here for dinner and stumbled onto the Wednesday Date Night deal for $85. It includes a shared appetizer, two entrees, a shared dessert and a bottle of wine. The bartender was our server and he was exceptional. The food, just the same as last time, is great - high quality ingredients and cooked well. This is a gem in downtown Oceanside.
Wow! This place is amazing! The ambiance is super cool. The old newspaper Blade Citizen used to occupy this building years ago and was founded it 1936. Lots of cool decos and such cool history! The food is absolutely delicious! I can't say enough about the flavor of their pasta sauces! The salmon was so buttery and a huge piece! The shrimp was cooked perfectly as well! The portions are perfect and service is awesome! This is going to become a regular spot for sure!
I've been wanting try this place for some time and a friend and I decided to stop by on a FRI night in the middle of the high tourist season. We had to sit outside because the place was packed, but the experience was still great. We ordered drinks right away. My friend got the signature cocktail Lisa Bella and loved it. I got a local Hazy IPA which was perfect. They have local rotating handles of a lager, IPA, Hazy IPA and Pilsner so you can always get the type of beer you want from one of the fantastic local breweries. We ordered the Insalata Verde to start and it was really great. A fairly simple salad but the mix of tart goat cheese with the candied pecans and the vinaigrette, was a great way to start the meal. For entrees, we ordered the meat lovers pizza and the paparadelle with mushroom pasta and both were incredible. The pizza dough might be my favorite of all time. It's soft and gooey and wonderful. The meatball and pepperoni were also top shelf. The pasta was clearly made fresh and the texture and all the flavors mixed perfectly. We finished with their house made daily tiramisu. Now tiramisu is probably my favorite dessert and I consider myself a bit of an expert on it and this was some of the best I've ever had. Truly amazing stuff. I will definitely be back with the family so they can share in this amazing local restaurant. I'll probably wait until the Fall, though. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Superb food, we had pasta dishes, calamari and cannoli for dessert. Every dish is great. I love my clams with linguine, I can eat this everyday! We sat outside, got there around 6pm and services were prompt. All staff are courteous. Our server Nicole, wow she's great. Super helpful, nice, professional, courteous. We felt welcomed, she was conversing with our children so they feel included. We have been to many restaurants and Nicole is a 5+! We highly recommend this restaurant!
Blade 1936 was recommended by a family friend who celebrated their birthday here. Parking is tricky on Thursdays because of the market but we were pleasantly surprised when the chef was hanging out up front and helping us look for parking. The ambiance appeared industrial yet chic. Definitely a trendy place to go on date night. As a new parent, it is always nice to see other families were accommodated there as well. Service was great. Hostess and waitstaff were friendly and attentive. Chef was awesome. Happy hour was stellar. Food tastes even better when it's on discount. The calamari was scrumptious. Margherita pizza had a balance of flavors. Basil was nice and aromatic. Ordered the Amari spaghetti, which had a lot of toppings. They did not skirt on the seafood (scallops, shrimp, squid, mussels), which I appreciated. Slightly spicy but still delicious. Nice to see they give complimentary birthday cakes (which seems rare nowadays.) tiramisu was to die for!
Service is on par . Our server Zaina was on top of knowing the menu. Gave drink recommendations , the best one was the Cabernet Joseph Carr, Paso Robles. We chose getting a bottle and skipped per glass . Her 2 appetizer recommendations were fantastic ! The short rib pasta was off the menu and she was able to get that for us. Zaina was always attentive. Loved that ! Ask for her. She will take care of you The food was beyond orgasmic. The portions just perfect and flavors to die for ! You just need to dine here to experience it. It looked like this was converted from a garage ? There is outside seating and each section is named for a city in Italy . We sat inside. Spacious . Crowded yet my boyfriend and I were able to hear each other . That is a plus in my book. This is a wonderful dining experience . I would definitely come back here ..often
Visited Blade 1936 for Father's Day with a group of 9 people. We made reservations and we're able to start with drinks from their happy hour menu. Our server was Jade and she was so great, very friendly, attentive and accommodating! Ambience was nice, but kinda wish they had some music playing since the private room is a big echo-y. Everybody loved their food!! My pasta bolognese was delicious and my husband enjoyed his veal with mashed potatoes and veggies. I also ordered tiramisu to go and it was a nice treat. Highly recommend!
